ok, so i'm gonna try this thing. i'm not convinced , but everybody rants and raves. so i'm gonna see what its all about. i have two weeks to decide if i like it or not. no, i don't have it yet.

Post 2 by wrm2012 (Zone BBS Addict) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 13:50:48

I just got my first iPhone. I like it alot. I haven't yet started getting any aps other than what came on the phone. It's very different from the flip phones I've been useing for a long time, but everything is very easy to learn and use on it. Btw mine is the 5C. Good luck with yours.

Post 3 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 19:12:45

You'll like it fine.
But, I thought you didn't text, email, and such things, so why?

Post 4 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 21:47:14

well I decided to try an gusto 3 because now by default my plan includes unlimited texting. I decided if it includes it, I might as well take advantage of a phone that can do it. there is just stuff about that gusto I don't like, and besides. whatever phone I get i'll have to live with for 2 years. so I figure I can give this a shot and see how I feel. worse comes to worse i'll just go back to the older LG phone or to that gusto.

Post 5 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 16-Nov-2014 23:30:15

also everybody keeps telling me how great it is and I have lots of help available to me and I wanna see what its all about.

Post 6 by wrm2012 (Zone BBS Addict) on Monday, 17-Nov-2014 5:35:34

It’s also more useful than just texting or emailing. Like I’d said I haven’t even started looking at other aps that didn’t come right on the phone. Example of the ones that I have started using and they are very easy to use are; the calendar, clock, contacts, notes, weather, and I’ve played around with Siri. I’ve also surfed the Internet with It. However, I do prefer using a computer rather than the phone, for the net. Personally I have a pretty good memory, and do remember most things, but have found the calendar to schedule events to be one of the most valuable aps on the phone.

Post 7 by skittles_freak (the freak of skittles) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2014 18:12:09

I don't know where I'd be without my iphone 5 I love it, and some of the games, diceworld especially, lol!

Post 8 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2014 22:16:33

I don't understand the aspect of flicking . I feel total lost with this thing. I do a left to right motion or right to left motion , and no matter whare I am on the home screne it repeats the same apps over again. sometimes it says page 2 of 2. I was taking a look at http://www.applevis.com/guides/idevice-primer-102-ios-gestures
cause it was suggested that's where I go. maddy helped me to connect to my Wi-Fi, change t a lock setting so it wont auto lock, and download alex and make him run. I know how to answer the phone, although it t ta takes bit of me lookin to actually find it. I started at the beginning. she had to tel me how I was to hold the phone, what buttens were where and what they did. I had no idea where the volume, sery, the ear piece or any of that even was.

Post 9 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2014 22:19:46

what does page 2 maen, what does extra folders mean?

Post 10 by dale1982 (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 18-Nov-2014 23:41:41

Just a quick tip. You were talking about trying to find buttons when you are answering the
call. When your phone rings, do a 2 fingered double tap on the screen and it will answer
the call for you. You can also repeate this gesture to end the call. If you are using the
phone on the earpiece, you can simply hit the power button once and it will end the call.

Post 11 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2014 5:30:03

thanks dale. the one thing i'm really having trouble with is flicking the screen with voiceover. i found that voiceover-easy.net is a good place to go rather than applevis.com. applevis is just confusing and there's so much. i find voiceover-easy.net simpler and easier to understand from a beginners point of view. i'm g ga glad maddy taught me how to double tap something so I could dismith my battery worning.

Post 12 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2014 5:32:06

i'm writing about my experiences with this iPhone 5s on twitter. JH_Radio2 is my handle. if anybody wants to follow me to see how it goes, or doesn't go... feel fre to do so. I'll be putting iPhone 5S at the beginning of tweets, and I wont rt too much about other stuff. this is new, and I have 13 days as of today to make up my mind, so there will probably be plenty on it.

Post 13 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2014 5:33:00

i'll be writing from a new user that is blidn with a hearing impairment.

Post 14 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Wednesday, 19-Nov-2014 11:25:33

The page number thing just means that you're at the bottom of a particular screen and you have to go to the next or previous screen.

Post 15 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 27-Nov-2014 11:53:55

Starting tomorrow, the iPhone 5S will be come the iPhone 6 Plus for me. woot.

Post 16 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 28-Nov-2014 13:24:55

Got jealous? Lol
Go dude!
Slicking means just sliding your finger.
The trick to reading a screen is to feel it.
Pretend you are reading a braille page. Braille pages have lines, and so does the screen on the phone.
The original apps have 2 pages of them, and folders are just like on your computer. You can put several apps in a folder.
So extras if you open it has apps inside.
The 6 will be a bit different, but same.

Post 17 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 28-Nov-2014 21:54:27

yeah I learned a lot of that wayne. I want the better camra for when I get to scanning, the better battery and the louder speaker which wil help, plus storage for my flac files.

Post 18 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 29-Nov-2014 8:39:38

Storage is the same on all iPhones.
16GB 64GB and now 128, so you'll not increase it unless you got more on the 6.
The iPhone 5 had accessories, like cases that could do this, but so far nothing for the 6.
There working on them.
I personally don't think the batteries all that much better, not marketly, at least for me. Battery depends on what you do.
But, it is a nice device, so enjoy it.
Buy an external battery device if you really need more.

Post 19 by season (the invisible soul) on Saturday, 29-Nov-2014 19:52:35

you don't see significant different from say 5S to 6+. But, by saying so, you do get better battory life, and yes, beter speaker, and slightly better camera. I suppose, you need to consider, if you can put up with a bigger size phone or not. For me, 6+ is perfect. It is big, but at least, i can see things clearer, and better... Not all iphones come with same storage spec. 5S, 6, and 6+ does, but not those that is lower than 5s

Post 20 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 30-Nov-2014 14:49:33

I also think it'll be easier for me to learn how to type on a bigger screen. maybe the realistate will be spread a lil more out for the youtube app for instance.

Post 21 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 10:27:08

I'd say no.
Because you are feeling, and finding things by touch, the larger screen will just be bigger.
Things on the screen are still arranged as they were on the 5S.

Post 22 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 10:29:57

I do absolutely agree that for a person that is low vision, the 6+ is the better option.
I remember debating the reasons a blind person might not want to upgrade from 5S to 6, and that was one of the things I felt was a reason for the 6+ upgrade and extra cost.

Post 23 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 12:52:03

I opted for a 6 instead of a 6 plus only because I really can't abide something too large for my pants pocket.

Post 24 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 14:46:56

I use one a them handy dandy keyboards.

Post 25 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 23:44:16

I now have a Bluetooth keyboard as well, and I love it!

Post 26 by season (the invisible soul) on Monday, 01-Dec-2014 23:59:41

ime, it is the same. It is almost to say that, a 4" clock will be better than a 6" clock. There are different ways to orientate one on a touch screen. Yes, more space means in some way, you need to space it out more, but in any means, that doesn't mean harder, or easier. It comes down to personal prefference and what is comfortable for that invidual

Post 27 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 02-Dec-2014 22:44:52

I also have a Bluetooth keyboard, although i'm using for as little as possible so I can l learn to use the screen. the keyboard wont be with me when i'm out after all. +b

Post 28 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 03-Dec-2014 13:43:47

John, why not have the Bluetooth keyboard with you? it's portable for a reason. personally, I'll be taking mine with me as much as possible.

Post 29 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 03-Dec-2014 19:00:45

Extra stuff to carry around. I haven't gotten one yet.
Say I'm out to eat, and I want to text, it's just simpler to do so with the phone, and slide it back in my bag after reading the text I want to answer.
At home it be handy though.

Post 30 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 03-Dec-2014 23:08:28

I feel quite differently; it's simpler to have it all the time, especially when you have a handy backpack to carry it in. besides, it's much, much faster than using the phone, and saves more time, if I need or wanna use it while I'm out.

Post 31 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 04-Dec-2014 13:12:34

I don't have a backpack or case for it. what am I gonna do. bring it inside the restrant with me? or in Wm with me? its the apple keyboard, its the one that is almost regular sized t keys.

Post 32 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Thursday, 04-Dec-2014 18:21:51

notice I said "if you have a carrying case for it."
if you don't have one, then, I wouldn't recommend lugging the keyboard around with you.

Post 33 by season (the invisible soul) on Thursday, 04-Dec-2014 19:17:38

You can get cases that come with the sliding keyboard. They already have some for the 6, but not for the 6+ just yet. They are around $15. I also highly reckommend a case for your phone...

Post 34 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 04-Dec-2014 22:01:26

They also have some really small ones that are not so large.

Post 35 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Friday, 05-Dec-2014 11:15:40

Yes, the Apple Bluetooth keyboard is actually quite large and also doesn't fold.
All this talk of Bluetooth keyboards may have me breaking out my old Freedom Input board I haven't used in a couple years.

Post 36 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Friday, 05-Dec-2014 15:34:54

I bring the braille sense with me. Of course the only problem is, it's not a good idea in a restaurant type setting.

Post 37 by dragons lady (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 05-Dec-2014 22:30:33

I was planning to buy a blue tooth keyboard style keyboard that fits on to the I phone just like the case does. The key board just slides out but I have put it off be cause of the issues with the bugs with the software so I am wondering, has that problem been resolved? I much rather use a keyboard when sending real long texts than doing dictation so when out in public everyone in the room will hear me speak my text.

Post 38 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 05-Dec-2014 22:38:04

I don't know what kinda Bluetooth keyboard I have, but it's small enough that it fits in its own small section of the backpack that I carry on my back.

Post 39 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 06-Dec-2014 13:49:51

when i was lookin at keyboards, the only thing i saw was slide out keyboard cases with a spot for an iPad. they make these for phones too?

Post 40 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 06-Dec-2014 17:50:12

They have lots of different models.

Post 41 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2014 13:03:24

of what. blluetooth keyboards? or ones with a case for the phone and a keyboard that both fit together

Post 42 by season (the invisible soul) on Sunday, 07-Dec-2014 15:40:56

Radio, there is lots of different bluetooth keyboars in the market. some are reasonable
pprice for reasonable quality, some are cheap, some are expensive. some got full qwerty
keyboard, in a size of the phone, some are bigger, some are smaller. some got some
numbers keypads, just like those "ggggood old phone" does. its really depends on what
you want, how much you have to spend, and how big, or small, wide or long you want it
to have... you can have some that is fould up keyboard, although i personally does not
suggest those... you can get plustic, to metal, to all sorts...
As far as the bluetooth software is concern, it got fix on ios8.1

I know I love the apple one I got, and if I got anything else, that is how I want it made. mettel, well made, and about those sized keys if not a lil bigger. but do they make them so that you can have the keyboard and phone in the same case? so I could have them t together rather than seprit?

Post 46 by season (the invisible soul) on Wednesday, 10-Dec-2014 20:33:34

Not with the apple BT Keyboard... Infact, the Apple bt keyboard is suppose to be for the IMacs smiles. But, there are, some cases available that come with the bt keyboard, either as a slider, or something that goes on top of the front cover. The 6+ case is still fairly limited at this stage, but i believe, something will popping up soon enough.

Post 47 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 10-Dec-2014 21:54:30

Get a big enough case..
I carry a man bag, so if I wanted I could get both in there easy.

Post 48 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 11-Dec-2014 21:08:42

lol a man bag wayne.

Post 49 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 12-Dec-2014 12:50:47

Yes, a man bag.
There like purses. There large enough to put say your iPad in some of them.
They've got pouches.
The ones I own are not as large for a regular sized iPad, but I could get a small iPad in.
I carry my phone, wallet, keys, a headset, and other items depending.
They come in different types, leather, denim,, just like purses, but are for men.
Nice. I don't like all that stuff in my pants pockets. It makes you look lumpy. Lol

Post 50 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 12-Dec-2014 13:23:42

If you are interested, to to
www.ebags.com
Type in men's shoulder bags,, and you'll find what I'm talking about.
Other places have them, but E bags seems to be the best price place for leathertype.
My mother teases me about having a purse collection, but they're really handy as far as I see it. Lol

Post 51 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 13-Dec-2014 11:55:32

lol wayne! I have a belly bag. the thing is for me i'd need to feel my phone vibrate so i'm not sure putting it in a man bag would be a good idea. although having it for the keyboard might not be such a bad idea. could put my cards, hearing aid batteries, etc in there too

Post 52 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 13-Dec-2014 13:50:08

You can feel your phone. The bags will either have a holder on the front, or inside the main pouch for your phone.
The iPhone 6+ would fit nicely in the slid holder, and your phone is easy to get to.
You can also keep a headset connected.
The reason you can feel it vibrate, is the bags have shoulder straps, so go cross your body.
It would hang underneath your armpit next to your waist.
The next time your mom is carrying her shoulder bag, feel how it fits, or try it on.
And, sure, you could get all your necessities in it.

Post 53 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 13-Dec-2014 13:52:04

I forgot. If I'm out with a sighted person, I put my folding cane in mine as well.

Post 54 by season (the invisible soul) on Saturday, 13-Dec-2014 19:34:59

Actually it is not true. i can't tell you how many time i missed some important calls or messages because the phone its on my bag, even though if it attach to shoulder strap or anything... And, excuse me to saying this, but, for some reason, men that have a man bag, kind of really... bugging me, in a fashion sense.

Post 55 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 13-Dec-2014 21:55:57

You mean from a fashion sense, it looks *Gay*?
You can say it, I’m not offended. Smile.
I do find the vibration is better felt in the bag with the sticker strap over the thin one.
I also wear my strap cross body, not hanging from one shoulder, so that night be a factor as well.
You can miss a call though.
I like my purses, I think it looks better then lumpy pockets, and I match mine to the clothes I have on.
I also buy leather, not plastic or such.
I have one that is denim as well, and small.
For Christmas, I’d like one that is rust, or the natural reddish leather, so maybe Santa will bring it.
I never envy women anymore for having a place to put things.

Post 56 by LeoGuardian (You mean there is something outside of this room with my computer in it?) on Monday, 15-Dec-2014 17:04:47

I have a Coast Guard mini sea bag with the shield and crossed anchors emblem on it. Not a murse like the young metrosexuals in my neighborhood, and I don't always take it, but it's a great bug out bag for being out for a day.

Post 57 by gizmobear (move over school!) on Monday, 16-Mar-2015 15:26:51

wayne, some of these,"mans shoulder bags" are expensive!! are all of these bags made from leather?

Post 58 by forereel (Just posting.) on Monday, 16-Mar-2015 15:42:55

No.
You can get them in canvas, and other miterials.
The leather, if it is real leather, are the more expensive.
Check out
www.ebags.com
In the search box type in men's shoulder bags.
